MODELS LIFE

THE BEGINNING OF MY CAREER PART 1

Castings in Paris

It was only a few hours after my mother agency sent my casting photos to IMG Paris, that I found out that the agency wanted to see me. As soon as possible!

It didn’t take me long to decide. I got on a plane and flew to Paris for my first meeting with the agency!

I was in Paris for only a few days, but it was extremely hectic.  Upon my arrival, I immediately went to the agency to meet everyone and take test photos. I learned that my stay in Paris was meticulously planned! Every day I had important meetings with designers, casting directors and photographers.  I posed for my first ever professional photoshoot and felt like I was in a completely different world! A world that until now was just a dream.

After such an amazing time in Paris, I had to come back to reality and try to balance my school work with a growing modeling career. I never expected how fast my modeling career would grow and how much of my time and focus it would take.

Contract in Tokyo

During my school vacations I would travel to Tokyo for a modeling contract, where I had the opportunity to gain experience and do a lot of editorials and commercial work. It was a great life lesson! I worked from morning to night. I never thought you could fit three different jobs in one day. In Japan, however, anything is possible and the day seems to have more hours than anywhere else. I remember a job that started at 1am (because we were traveling outside Tokyo and the photographer wanted to capture the sunrise) and having only finished my previous job at 11 pm, I realised that it did not make sense to even go to sleep…

Very often I didn’t have time to sleep, eat or go shopping. I remember there were days when my agency prepared food for me (due to lack of time) but also because it was my first time in Japan and I had never tried Japanese cuisine. The initial trips to Japan were really hard because I was home sick and missed my family very much. The first week was the most difficult having gone to the other end of the world and forced to acclimate to a new culture where I didn’t know anyone and not used to the opposite time zone.

As difficult as it was for me to get used to Japan, it soon became one of the most exciting and wonderful experiences in my life.  It was a real life lesson, for which I will always be very grateful. I learned so much and gained extensive experience in modeling. I learned how to deal with difficult situations on my own, which later proved to be very useful in my career.

Today, Japan is one of my favorite countries in the world and I always look forward to visiting.  Here are some photos from my first visit to Japan.
