Fashion is back. After being shut down for over three months NYC will finally be entering Phase 2 of its reopening plan. The reopening will include restaurant, retail stores (such as Louis Vuitton) and the much needed hair salons.
It was sad to see that many luxury stores like Chanel and Gucci were looted during this period amid the protests over the death of George Floyd. However many of the high-end retailers were already boarded up because of the coronavirus pandemic. Hopefully the damage was not severe and they will be able to recover and open without much delay.
FASHION IS BACK
Being fashionable is more important than ever! It’s a sad fact that many brands will have a difficult time to survive after the coronavirus global shut down. Especially the smaller independent ones. The pandemic effected business generally but it especially devised the fashion world which is so dependent on personal contact. Events such as fashion shows where it is important for a big group of people to gather in close proximity. It’s a bit scary that even at this point where business are starting to open up, we still do not know how the fashion business will adjust to new restrictions and survive having to restart mid season. This is why I think that it’s also upon us to do all we can to support these creative talents. So that they are able to continue to create the art that we all love and appreciate.
HOW TO SUPPORT AND HELP FASHION BRANDS
Most importantly I think that during this time when the retail stores start to open up, we should visit and restock on our wardrobe essentials. Hopefully everyone will come out to support the fashion brands. Especially the smaller independent brands that were harder hit by the shutdown. We can help by shopping and buying and enable the brands to make a financial come back. It’s a great opportunity to be creative in your outfits and try to inspire others to be imaginative.
Believe me, I’ve been wanting for this day so long and I already can’t wait to go shopping!
I really love living in New York City and I am hopeful that everything will get back to normal soon. Right now New York feels like a patient who was on life support and just started breathing on her own. Lets get the Queen into rehab so that she can once again have the energy and life like she did not so long ago…
